Non-Resident CCW’s are being issued in California to any citizen of the United States that qualifies. Citizens of foreign countries do not qualify. Students can take their Part A Lecture via Zoom. The Part B Range Course will need to be in person. Applicants must go through same criteria as Califonia citizens. This will include; 16 hour Initial course, oral interview (via zoom), 3 persons of reference (does not have to live in CA). Applications with all instructions will be found on the Sheriffs department website.
This course is mandatory for obtaining your initial CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) License. Topics include safety, marksmanship, liabilities, stance, statistics, the path to choosing a defensive handgun and caliber combination, and much more. This course includes a written and shooting evaluation and is our basic level defensive handgun course. This is offered at least twice a month. Class time will allow for 2 handguns to be qualified. To qualify additional handguns, please look to the CCW Handgun Qualification Class. CCW course is good for Kern county.
